How to Get Happy the Old-Fashioned Way

Pigeons in the eaves? Children flunking out of school> Refrigerator making funny noises?  If your troubles are weighing you down, turn to The Worrywart's Companion in which Beverly Potter provides 21 ways to soothe yourself and worry smart.

Method 17: Rock yourself. Repetitive activity "is an effective relaxant for all people," writes Potter. "Even though you are grown up and your mom is no longer around to rock you to sleep, you can always rock to comfort yourself." Among Potter's recommended "meditations-in-motion" are rocking in a rocking chair, whole-body rocking back and forth to music, knitting or crocheting, and the performance of simple exercise like jogging.
